Mountaineering

Why On The Loose is different: Altitude and Acclimatization
Altitude experts tell us that climbers should average no more than one thousand feet a day when ascending to camp above 9000 feet. Yet many trekking and climbing companies break this rule. The result is that many participants loose their chance to climb due to altitude sickness. At On The Loose we remain conservative when climbing and trekking at high altitude. On average, we provide more acclimatization days to allow your body to adjust, thereby giving you the greatest possible opportunity to achieve your goals.

Mexico-Pico de Orizaba
Pico de Orizaba is a magnificent 18,406 ft. volcano in Central Mexico surrounded by small towns with colonial charm. A wonderful introduction to high altitude climbing.

Ecuador-Illiniza, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo
Climb Ecuador's massive Andean volcanoes, reaching over 20,000 ft.. We start with the Illinizas, move on to Cotopaxi, renowned as one of the world's most beautiful peaks, before heading to our final objective, Chimborazo. A trip to the famous Otavalo native market adds much spice to this excurion.
