Highland
and Hebrides
This spectacular
excursion offers an introduction to Scotland's northwest Highlands
and Islands. The adventure begins in Inverness, and then leads us
in an exploration through the islands of Skye, Harris, Lewis, and
the Ullapool area of the mainland. Daily walks will take you alongside
rivers, unspoiled coastline and through hidden glens.
The first stop
along the shore of Lochness is the Isle of Skye, where we will visit
the Eilean Donan Castle. We'll spend two days in Skye's mountains
before taking the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Uig in Northern
Skye to the island of Harris. Here, any photographer will be sure
to appreciate the island's unique qualities of light and landscape.
We will walk the coastal path to the sandy beaches and visit the
Harris Tweed woven in an original crofter's cottage. On the isle
of Lewis, we explore the ancient standing stones at Callanish before
continuing to Stornoway. Our final destination is Ullapool, located
on one of the most attractive sea lochs on the west coast. We will
absorb the culture of this lively village and celebrate a wonderful
adventure to traditional music in the local pubs.
